Few experiences capture the spirit of discovery quite like a road trip. Toss a bag in the car, pick a route and set off — whether it’s the legendary curves of Route 66 or a scenic back road leading somewhere new. With Destination Xchange, Members are discovering that some of the most rewarding adventures are just a drive away.
“We use Destination Xchange for a lot of drive-to trips,” say Chuck and Lisa S., who have been Members since 2022. “We like road trips, and it’s great to save a little money. Our favorite resorts are in northern Michigan, such as Mountain Run at Boyne™ in Boyne Falls, and Shanty Creek Vacation Club and The Lodge at Shanty Creek, both in picturesque Bellaire.”

Easy Journeys and Local Attractions
For many travelers, the appeal of a road trip lies in its simplicity. No airport lines, no complicated logistics — just the joy of hitting the road and exploring nearby destinations.
“We use Destination Xchange for local travel,” explain Robert and Adrianne H., Members since 2008. “We enjoy the convenience of just driving there with much less planning involved. We have traveled to Carlsbad in California many times, as it’s close to home and there are several resorts to choose from, including Grand Pacific Palisades Vacation Resort and Carlsbad Seapointe Resort, which are just off the coastal Highway 101.”
Visiting local, off-the-beaten-track locations is a compelling reason many Members choose to travel by car. Sharon B., a Member since 2009, is a passionate advocate for the local road trip: “Access to smaller markets that we can drive to is the main reason we travel using Destination Xchange”.
“We really enjoy The Rushes, located on Kangaroo Lake in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin,” continues Sharon. “It is a relatively short drive from home, and the resort is very nice. The grandchildren really love the pool and hot tub, and I particularly enjoy all the walking paths through the surrounding woods.”

In Alberta, Canada, Doug and Angela immersed themselves in rich cultural history and beautiful landscapes.
“A visit to Paradise Canyon Golf Resort in Lethbridge allowed us to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo Jump and the sacred Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park. These are great history-filled places to visit. We also went to Lundbreck Falls, a Canadian Provincial Recreation Area, and visited the Bears Hump trail for some outdoor adventure.”
